My Worst Nightmare: Catch Me When I Fall Blog Hop (and a contest!)

Today, I’m taking part in Vicki Leigh’s “My Worst Nightmare” blog hop, to celebrate the recent release of her young-adult, paranormal-romance/ urban-fantasy, CATCH ME WHEN I FALL, which centres around seventeen-year-old Daniel Graham, a Protector of the Night, who has spent two-hundred years fighting Nightmares and guarding humans from the clawed, red-eyed creatures that feed off people’s fears.

Rules:
·         On 11.03.14 post about your worst nightmare, and what form the clawed, red-eyed creatures would take if they fed off your fears.
·         Visit the other participants of the blog hop, and comment on their worst nightmares

At the end of the blog tour, on 11.14.14Vicki Leigh will pick one of the participants at random and award them with [prize].

Okay, I know that participating in blog hops (which are different from blog tours) is not something I typically do on this blog. I have my reasons, but a lot of times it's because I generally don't have time to keep up with everyone's everything, and if I do one, I will feel like I need to do them all.

But with Halloween recently passed, and since I'm participating in this blog tour anyway, they are pretty much interconnected. So. I'm supposed to write about my worst nightmare.

Here's the thing. I don't like writing about nightmares. I am not necessarily a horror writer, at least, not that I have yet discovered. In fact, on my last author panel, someone asked what we like to write about, and my answer was kissing. I write kissing books! And romance. And yes, they all have conflict, some of which is pretty scary stuff. But in my mind, it all revolves around the kissing.

And since I'm in confession mode, it's been a very long time since I had a sleeping nightmare. By that, I mean a really bad dream that occurs while I'm asleep, and that I remember when I wake up. You should understand by now, though, that I am the person who takes precautions to avoid this kind of issue. We simply don't let the stuff of nightmares into our home. Saves me a lot of grief with my kids.

So instead of writing my personal nightmares, which I absolutely can't remember, I have decided to post some pictures of things that might cause anyone a few nightmares. Okay? Okay.

Captain Hook anyone?

Yeah, this just...yeah.

This guy is so scary people are afraid to even utter his name. *coughcoughVoldemortcoughcough*

Need I say more? I don't know anyone who is not afraid of clowns.

My Preciousssssssss...

*Insert Jaws theme music here*

Exciting New Release: Sun & Moon by Lee Strauss (Book One in the Minstrel Series) and TWO Giveaways!

Sun & Moon by Lee Strauss
(Book One in the Minstrel Series)
Coming January 26th! If you’re a fan of the movie Inside, Llewyn Davis, ABC television’s Nashville or Colleen Hoover’s upcoming novel, "Maybe Someday", the Minstrel Series is for you! The Minstrel Series is a collection of contemporary romance novels set in the singer/songwriter world. The books are companion novels, with shared settings and characters, but each are complete standalone stories with a HEA (happily ever after) and no cliffhangers!

My thoughts on the book:
After I was able to get past the gorgeous cover (couldn't stop looking at it) and read the first page, I knew this was going to be my kind of story. This is big for me, because I've never read anything by Lee Strauss before, and I'm always hesitant to start reading a book by a new author--especially one that comes so highly recommended. But I was drawn in immediately, turning the ten minutes of reading time I had into two hours and 100 pages.

I have a soft spot for flawed, but lovable characters, and Lee has done a great job in creating this with both down-on-her-luck Katja and mysterious, brooding Micah. Both have troubled backgrounds and lots of baggage, and both are searching for redemption, love, and happiness (though neither of them realizes it). Another thing I love is the rich German culture and beautifully unique setting that gave the story another whole dimension. On top of all that, the author has included ORIGINAL MUSIC, which is, in my opinion, off the hook cool, especially because the main character is a singer/songwriter. So yeah.

If you're a fan of happily ever after stories that are steamy without being explicit, I definitely think this is one to add to your collection.

Katja Stoltz is a risk-taking singer-songwriter hoping to make it in the indie music scene in Dresden, Germany. Micah Sturm's a brooding uptown banker on a quest. Driven to the streets, Katja is picked up by Micah - but he doesn't want what she thinks he does. There’s an undeniable attraction between them, a gravitational pull they both struggle to resist. Katja knows she mustn’t fall in love with this handsome enigma. There’s something dark lurking beneath the surface. He could be dangerous. And even if her life isn’t on the line, her heart most definitely is.

*not erotica - no explicit sex or coarse language

This series is an exciting collaboration between Lee Strauss as an Indie Author and several very talented Indie Singer-Songwriters. Four original songs produced by Norm Strauss are featured in Sun & Moon and are performed by award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Kim McMechan. MP3 links are included at the end. Check out the music video!

All the songs from the Minstrel Series can be found at Bandcamp. The Minstrel Series also has its own Facebook page. Go Like it to follow all the upcoming Minstrel Series news! Pre- orders now available at the pre-release price of 2.99! (Price goes up after launch) itunes | kobo | Barnes & Noble
Also, now available on Amazon.
Lee is giving away prizes to celebrate the upcoming launch of Sun & Moon
Enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card, MP3s of all four songs featured on Sun & Moon, and a 12 month calendar from Dresden, Germany featuring many of the settings found in Sun & Moon.

One More Giveaway:

Just because you read about it here, Lee has graciously offered to give away one e-copy of her book East of Eden to one of my readers. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post. Something along the lines of, "Please enter me," or, "Count me in," or something else that tells me you'd like to be considered for the prize. Be sure to include your email address. If I can reply to your comment and have it arrive in your inbox, that works too, as long as I can track down my winner. (And by that I mean I don't want to have to employ the help of the NSA to find you.) If you follow my author page on FB, make sure to mention that as well, and I'll give you an extra entry. (And yes, I will be checking.)

You have until midnight, central time, on Saturday, February 1st. The winner will be notified via email and announced here next week. (I don't usually do a big announcement for prize winners here, but for this one, I will.)

**UPDATE** This contest has changed. First, due to East of Eden being offered free on Kindle this past week, Lee has offered to send the winner their choice of one of her ebooks. Also, since I had some unexpected distractions come up last week, I'm extending the contest deadline to midnight, February 14th, 2014. Valentines Day, because everyone could use a little more romance in our lives, right? Good luck!

Celebrate Good Times, Come On! (A massive DESCENDANT giveaway)

Yahoo. Dun dun dun dun dun dun…

*dances around the house where I’m staying*
*sees you looking*
*sheepishly blushing*

Oh, uh, yeah. Hi! So today is the beginning of the Descendant Blog tour, and that means PARTY! Also, FREE STUFF! Yep, that’s right. You are invited to visit any of the participating blogs, where you will have the opportunity to enter to win.

But, um, what do you win? Well.

Do you know what a galley is? It’s basically a printed, unbound copy of the book. Sometimes they have author notes and other doodles in them. Sounds cool, right? (Or lame—I don’t know. You tell me!) I will be giving away one complete doodled galley copy of DESCENDANT. IF we make the review goals, this will include the three bonus scenes I promised (but if we don’t make it, I can’t reveal them. Sorry!).

Also, because there are healing crystals involved in this story, I have a few of these beautiful healing crystals, which have been put into necklaces by my good friend Gail. I will give away Four of these.

But that’s not all! Oh no. My amazing friend Tova, has created some lovely, and oh-so-amazing healing body spray. And yes, it really does HEAL things. She also created these gorgeous DESCENDANT lip balms. (Tell me those aren’t the cutest things ever!) So I’m going to give away one bottle of healing spray and a lip balm as a package prize.

And also, I love the idea of packaging all these things together, so I will offer one more prize that includes a body spray, a lip balm, a healing crystal a signed poster, a wrist band, some bookmarks, AND… a doodled, signed galley segment that includes at least two chapters of DESCENDANT.

Sound good? Cool. Okay then. Go forth and enter, my friends! Good luck to you.

*Bloggers may enter as long as the entry doesn’t come from their own blog.
**Sadly, I need to restrict this giveaway to USA mailing addresses only.
***Contest runs from today, May 6, 2013-June 5th, 2013.
****You may enter once on each participating blog, but please be kind and leave the bloggers a comment. Thanks!
