A couple weeks ago, I signed up to participate in a Gearing Up to Get an Agent blog hop that involves authors getting together and preparing our works and the materials we’ll need to query agents and/or submit to publishers. If you haven't signed up and want to, you should visit Deana Barnhart's blog and find out more,
Hurry up and go do that. I'll wait.
Also, since you're here, I'd love it if you'd click the follow button to your right--show me a little love, and I'll stop by your blog and return the favor. Deal? I promise to make it worth your time by doing an awesome giveaway in the next few weeks.
I'll wait while you do that too.
*whistles*
Right. Okay.
Today is introduction day. This will explain why my first post this week went live on Monday instead of Wednesday, and also why I won’t be posting anything new until Friday. Because two blogs a week is still two, regardless of what day they post.
Anyway, here's my official blog hop introduction:
~Where do you write?
Usually in my bedroom, but sometimes in the back yard, the car, soccer games and, when I travel, on planes.
~Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see?
Don’t laugh. Seriously. It’s a bookshelf that is overflowing with all my current most favorite books.
~Favorite time to write?
Late at night. It’s when I’m most creative because I’m either sleepy, or goofy, or both.
~Drink of choice while writing?
Dr. Pepper. It’s my addiction.
~When writing , do you listen to music or do you need complete silence?
Depends on the day. Most often, silence is best. But sometimes a little music is great for setting the mood I need.
~What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it?
Picture this: Me, on a treadmill at the gym, watching music videos while listening to something totally different on my iPod. Thinking of rebellion, watching some lady cry in a cemetery, and then a news clip about the rising price of gas, followed by a clip about wildfires burning across the country. There’s a whole lot of what if involved, but it will all become a full story someday. (This is a work in progress, not a finished manuscript, FYI.)
~What's your most valuable writing tip?
Never. Give. Up.
That is all.
Actually, wait. I changed my mind. FINISH before you edit. Now really, that is all.
Thanks to Deana Barnhart for putting this thing together! And hello to all my new friends. *waves*
Wanna meet the other crazy authors? You can find them here:

Never give up is great advice. Good luck in the contest.
Good luck with GUTGAA!
Saying hello from Gutgaa...I too have written on planes. I find that much more productive than skimming through Sky Mall...though sometimes that catalog offers some pretty random but creative gadgets that can also serve as prompts for stories...I get inspiration everywhere. =)
Hi, nice to meet you. I agree about not editing until you finish--I have driven myself crazy sometimes, trying to make something perfect before the end, only to go back and cut the entire scene later because it didn't work any more.
Have a great day, and feel free to stop by my page any time, http://WayneMeyers.com
Nice blog. Like the title. And I totally didn't have the code so THANK YOU for that. :)
Nice to meet you.
My back yard is totally small and lame otherwise I would write there as well. Booooo.
I'm your newest follower. *waves* Very nice to meet you!

A girl who writes late at night with a coke by her side? Sounds like me!
Is there an IV attached to your coke? I swear I drink way to much of that stuff.
So nice to meet you!
Hi! If you write on a plane, how will you ever discover the Spy Pen or the Giant Cupcake Pan found in the SkyMall magazine? :) Great to meet you and see your blog. I'm a follower now!
Ah ha! Found ya :) A fellow DP addict, great minds really do think alike ;) Nice to see you, followed :) We shall get along famously I see...Good luck in GUTGAA!
Love your motto Nichole! I need to put it on my wall and read it frequently as I write. ;)
I love hearing about your inspiration! When I'm on the treadmill I'm usually counting the minutes until I can be done...
Hi, Nicki!
Hi! I'm stopping by from GUTGAA!
I actually edit as I write. As long as i set some ground rules (like no editing until that day's writing goal has been met) it works out well for me. And then i wind up with a fairly clean first draft
Your advice was wise... changeable but very wise ;) Thanks for stopping by my blog. The GUTGAA blogfest is epic. Congratulations on your short story success.
Finish before you edit is some good advice, but SOOOO hard to live by! Love your blog banner. Good luck with GUTGAA!
Thanks everyone! Nice to meet you all. Just so you know, I respond to all comments via email, but only if you have an email attached to your blogger profile. If you don't, I have to come here to respond, and I don't expect you all to come check back to see if I responded to your specific comment. SO...for those of you who are on no-reply status: *waves* Thanks for stopping by!
*Waves* Nice to meet you!! And I agree, never giving up is the best way!!
And your gym plays way better stuff on TV. Mine literally plays the cooking channel. =/ Because I want to think about baking cupcakes while I am on the treadmill.
Dr. Pepper is good, isn't it? My roommate won't let me drink too much of it though or else I bounce off the walls. Your new story idea sounds cool from the little tidbits you shared about the inspiration behind it. :)
Love Dr. Pepper, too, but it is not Low-Glycemic Index on my diet..so I'll have to wait until my "Free" meal :-)! Sending you greetings from GUTGAA!! *Yay*

No reply by email needed; would rather have a Comment on my blog ;-)!
I used to be a late night writer, but I find I'm more productive before lunch.
You got some love, lol. Great post. Good luck with GUTGAA. http://anjeasandro.blogspot.com/
Love that you see an overflowing bookshelf in your writing space. It warms the heart :)
Good luck!
