So, I would like to reword this a little bit because I'm just neurotic like this so I really want this to say: Many of life's failures happen because people did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
(No offense, Thomas Edison. I just don't think failures in life = failures as people, and I'm pretty sure that's not what you meant either.)
I believe this happens all the time. People give up, or almost give up, right before they're about to succeed. But I also believe that there are people who refuse to quit, and who make it through that last stretch and cross over the bar. Now I have a question. Who do you know that kept at something, regardless of how many times they fell or how hard they fell, and eventually succeeded?

Had to smile at your correction to the Thomas Edison quote. :) You've always been a great editor as well as a great writer!
I think the hard thing about continuing to push through is that we always wonder if we're beating a dead horse. Too bad there's no way to see the future and know just how many times we need to keep at something until we find success, huh?
Well, I know me. =)I like your correction.
I just came across this quote on another site today and I love it especially with your correction. I'm also excited to "meet" a writer from PG! (my hometown) You look really familiar so I'm wondering if we've met anyway before but if not, I'm looking forward to getting to know you anyway through your blog.
I agree with you about failure moments not equaling people-failures. I don't think of people as failures at all. I think we're all just people, trying to make our way through.
How are you doing?
Excellent post Nichole! I had a friend I was in a writing group with who was just about to quit writing. She had made the choice and gave her book one more chance. She got one of the top agents and her book was published (and a best seller). Amazing.
