Why Do You Read Blogs?

Last week I decided to shake things up. I borrowed a page out of my friend Elana’s book, and wrote all my blogs on the weekend then scheduled them. My plan wasn’t necessarily to blog daily on this blog, but Mon, Wed, Fri and then my regular Thursday blog on LDS Writer’s Blogck.

Turned out, I was scheduled for a Tuesday book review, and on Thursday, I happened upon an inspirational video I wanted to share. So, I ended up blogging here every day anyway. That was actually not my intention. But I do want to try and create some kind of blogging schedule.

Up til now, I’ve been blogging as I can or when I feel inspired. But that can be an erratic way to blog, and not a great way to keep readers coming back every day. So here’s the question. How often to you read blogs? Are there sites you return to more regularly than others? If so, why?

And one last question. Besides meaningful content—which, in my mind is a given—why do you read blogs and what brings you back?

Thanks for the input!

I find it kind of like group therapy for writers. I'm cutting back on reading though to just Mondays and Fridays. I just can't get too overloaded.

I read them to learn what's going on in the lives of people I care about. =]

You're right, Angie. It's easy to get overloaded. I love consistent posts, but every day seems like, too much for most people. I think I need to find a balance there. Thanks for your comment.

L.T., Me too! Thanks for the reminder.

I read for lots of reasons, depending on the blog. I like funny ones. I also like ones that talk about books. And then I like to keep track of my friends. But blog overload? Yeh, it's like that.

Great questions! I think I might steal them for my upcoming posts...

I read blogs every day, Monday - Friday. I go to the same blogs over and over and a few new ones each day if I have time. After a while, they become regulars too. I go there because they've either come to my blog or I've enjoyed what they've said in the past.

I read blogs to connect, and when that connection is made, I go back.
