It's a Throwdown!

You know how I’m always joking about how much I love watching the food network? Okay, well. It’s not really a joke. It’s like the best—and most useful—kind of reality TV, right? Right. (Have you ever seen Throwdown with Bobby Flay? If you haven’t, you can read the details at the Food Network website.)

I was watching Throwdown the other night, and got thinking about the protagonists of all my favorite books (yes, including my own) and their differences, as well as what they have in common.

Wouldn’t it be frawsome to have a throwdown match between our favorite fictional characters? Like…just for example, Jacob Black and Peeta Mellark. Jacob is a wolf-boy out to save the world—and the girl he loves—from vampires, but Peeta is a trained killer, forced to kill other kids his age and younger, including possibly the girl he loves, in order to survive.

But both are good, decent people who want to make the world a better place, and who will do anything to ensure the safety of their love-interest girl. And by the way, both of them are in love with a girl who kind of loves them back, but not enough. Not really.

So, who would win in a throwdown between them? Any ideas? Because I just don’t know. I don’t. I love to read, but am not sure I could be a judge in this particular match between heroes. This is why I need to hear your thoughts on the matter.

And also, what two characters would you like to see throw down?

IDK, I think Jacob would win that one...yeah, pretty certain.

Um, in that matchup, I haven't read The Hunger Games *ducks flying tomatoes*.

But I actually think there's something going on online right now where a bunch of different bloggers are doing a bunch of different matchups/throwdowns between fictional characters.

I read it on Cindy Pon's (Silver Phoenix) blog - cindypon.com ... her character Ai Ling was matched up against Hermione and then they had a bunch of blog comment voters and I think Hermione lost. Now Ai Ling is head to head with Jace Wayland from The Mortal Instruments series. It's not looking good... can't remember who started it, but I thought it was really interesting to read!

There's lots more out there, I just haven't been following that closely ...

There is a YA throw down going on right now here:http://yafantasyshowdown.weebly.com/

So far: Katsa has beaten Edward and Hermione and is up against Jace.

Katniss beat Tally and is up against Eugenides

There's more! Check it out

LOL! Christine had this exact same idea! You guys are on the same wavelength or something ;)

Hmm, I think Jacob would win against Peeta in a throwdown, just because I think Jacob's more capable of murder than Peeta is. And that's probably why I love Peeta more, even though I totally LOVE Jacob. *shrug*

Oh! I can't wait for that throw down! That's the one I would totally pick!

Fun idea. Jacob would win. And in real life, I think Tally would totally take Katniss.

Christine, you're probably right. Jacob definitely has a temper and the rage to kill someone. Poor Peeta!

Windy, I did NOT know that! Interesting. Thanks for the link, now I have to go check out that blog. Great minds think alike!

Taffy, thanks for that link too. I can totally see Katniss beating Tally. She's a tough chick.

You're right, Ali. And that's probably why I love Peeta too, even though Jacob has great abs. =)

Wow, Karlene. You think Tally is tougher? Interesting. Care to expand on that opinion? Convince me.

If Tally is the one from the Specials, she might be able to take anyone.
Then again, Katniss has survived two Hunger Games where it was her life at stake. I don't think Tally's life was threatened like Katniss', was it?
